How can SMP help my scalp scars?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) can help you cover scars left behind after a hair transplant treatment or mishap, so that the final appearance blends in flawlessly with the surrounding hair. The treatment is comparatively pain-free and results in a natural-looking outcome that will improve self-confidence. If you prefer a shorter hairstyle, SMP will help create the appearance of hair follicles at the back of the head in cases where there are surgical scars. SMP supplies a look of full hair for those with longer hair. As a result, the scar will not be visible because its bareness will be covered.
The scar tissue can be quite thick and will not react to pigments the same way a normal scalp would. For regular treatments, you can expect 3-4 sessions lasting anywhere from 1-6 hours. Extra sessions may be necessary for surgical scar cases as we assess how the area has responded to the treatment. There will be work done on more than just the scar area. To achieve a blended, natural look, additional SMP work will be performed in the areas on either side of the scar.
To ensure that the wounds are completely healed both internally and externally, the FUT/FUE scar cover with SMP can only be performed a minimum of 8 to 12 months after the surgical treatment.
